BURPING OR WINDING:
After your baby is well fed, burp for around 10-15mins (just a guide)
Some babies can be more difficult to wind than others, but take your time, try all of these techniques and don't give up, babies will be happier for it!!
Make sure baby is settled then sit upright,
ALWAYS make sure you are supporting their neck with one hand then gently rub or pat their back with the other hand
BICYCLE BODY MOVEMENT:
Bicycle is a great way to get rid of any built up gas,
Lay baby on back and gently push knees up to their chest, one at a time, alternating knees ( it looks like you are pedaling a bicycle )
This puts really good but gentle pressure on different areas of the abdomen and helps both farts and burps to be released.
UPRIGHT, OVER THE SHOULDER:
Place a cloth over the shoulder,
Hold baby up against your body, stretch out their legs, head facing you, chin resting gently on your shoulder.
Babies with more head and neck control, hold them up higher so your shoulder presses lightly on their belly,
Gently pat or rub their belly until they release their wind.
ONE FOR THE DAD'S:
Not only a beautiful newborn photo pose.
Lie baby flat along your forearm, belly down, head resting in the palm of your hand with face to the side. For extra support, rest arm on a pillow or bring in close to your body then gently rub or pat back until they burp.
I hope this helps to get those babies tooting for you!!
