Are you about to have your first baby??
Have you had everyone in your life and even people that are not in your life telling you what you should and shouldn't do??
Do you read parenting books??
It can all be so confusing!!
So what is right and what is wrong??
THIS IS THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION:
I'm here with a truth bomb............
THERE IS NO RIGHT OR WRONG!!!
Every baby is different and every family is different. We are all just getting through it and trying to do our absolute best for our babies.
LISTEN TO EVERYTHING:
Because there is no right or wrong I personally think that it is important to listen to every bit of advice, no matter how painful some of it might be!!
You can then take on and use what you want but if you shut things down and don't listen you might miss something that could come in handy.
IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT:
If what you are doing for your baby is working why change it????
Just because your friend or family member says that, that is not the way they are doing things or have been told that its not what you "should" be doing doesn't mean its right.
My eldest daughter Indy slept through from 8weeks because she loved having he arms tucked in. We used to put her in a sleeping bag and kept her like this until she was about one.
We where told by a couple of people that she was getting far to old to have her arms in, I even had one mum tell me that at 4weeks old if I didn't let her arms free she would roll onto her belly and suffocate. She is now 5 and totally fine and also a fantastic sleeper. However this is not for everyone.
DON'T DOUBT YOURSELF:
Listening to people can be a blessing and a curse.
At the end of the day, you know your family better than anyone else and common sense plays a BIG part in any parenting.
What works for one doesn't always work for another. Only try new things if what you are doing isn't working for you.
IF YOU DON'T LAUGH, YOU WILL CRY:
Parenting is hard!!! There is no doubt about that, but if you can have fun with it.
If you don't laugh you will cry and lets be honest, you would be a heap in the corner if you let everything get to you. Just try to remember that your children pick up on your emotions so try not to sweat the little things if you can and have fun with it.
REMEMBER........
There is NO right or wrong
Listen to everything but only take on what you want to
Don't self doubt
Have a little fun
