WHEN DID YOUR BABY GO INTO THEIR BIG BED

WHEN DID YOUR BABY GO INTO THEIR BIG BED

Did you have a plan of when, where and how you where going to transition your baby into their big kid bed??

Its a big step in your household to get your baby out of their cot and into a big kid bed.

HOW DID YOU FEEL:

How did you feel about it??

With our first born Indy, I was fine because we moved her out of the cot and into her 'big kid' bed because I was pregnant with our second daughter Sienna so we needed the cot for her.

I still remember how excited Indy was that she had a new room and a new bed, it was a really nice moment for all of us!! She was always a great sleeper too so we had no trouble with her transition!!

When Sienna was 2, we decided it was time for her to get into a big girl bed as well because it went so well the first time...

We put the cot in the garage and set up the 'big' bed with a new duvet and teddy bear. Sienna was super excited at first and then she kept asking for her cot back!!

We had a rail on the bed so she wouldn't fall out so that was good because she thought she still couldn't get out of bed. Not so good for me because she kept waking up and screaming out for me.

After a few nights she loved it and settled in so for us it went pretty good.

I felt really sad when we sold the cot because I felt like I had no more "babies" and the girls where "big" girls now!!

HOW DID YOU MAKE IT FUN:

Have fun!!

With both the girls I brought a new duvet set and soft toy that featured something that they loved at the time.

Indy got bunnies and Sienna got rainbows.

We waited until they where at Kindy or away for an hour or two and then did a big reveal when they got home.

It was like getting a large present and the look on their little faces made it all worth it.

IS THERE A RIGHT TIME:

NO!!! Do what is right for you and your family!! never mind what anybody says is right or wrong with all parenting tips!!!

When your baby is ready, you will know!!

ROOM IDEAS:

You can really go overboard with this first room for them, but take a breath and calm down!!! Just remember how quickly they change there style and minds about what they like!! My advise would be think long term!! Don't go buying a bed shaped like a princess castle or fire engine that will last them a month before you need to buy another bed (that's just me personally)

Do it up with themed pictures, wall decal, blankets, their favourite soft toys instead!!

There is so many beautiful fun things that are not super expensive so have fun with it.
